The Writers Access Support Staff Training Program, hosted by The Writer's Guild Foundation, provides writers who are BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and/or over the age of 50, with the tools and education to become a writers’ assistant and script coordinator, resulting in meaningful employment opportunities.As an Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture Intern, I conducted survey research of program alumni. In addition to this, I interviewed 16 alumni to create blog posts, promotional videos and accompanying audio.
Initially stylized around 80s & 90s BDSM print culture surrounding underground zines, the aesthetics have shifted to reflect the aesthetics of 18th & 19th century print culture to expand understandings of kink as not simply post-modern degeneracy but as natural acts of play.
Using iconography from past kink and current BDSM practices, Glory Box is a four player board game exploring taboos surrounding BDSM (Bondage & Discipline, Domination & Submission, Sadism & Masochism). By redigesting past and present kink practices into mechanics similar to that of Parcheesi & Clue. Set at a social club each player was invited to for their abnormal proclivities, play is insighted by the draw of a beauty from across the room.
